What do my dreams mean?

I heard somewhere that your dreams can say stuff about you. So I was wondering what they meant. Every night I always have the same type of dreams, I'm always running or hiding from something and protecting others (my little brother and sister or some little children) from that thing. For example, last night I dreamt that a dragon was attacking my school and so everyone was all hiding and stuff like that. I tried to fight it off but it grabbed onto my foot and clawed my right foot and elongated my left middle toe. I got out because my ex saved me (he was trying to show off to this other girl, but the dragon swallowed him, so he hung onto the dragon's tonsil and was puked out (she wasn't impressed)) anyways, I found a safe place for my little brother to hide and found some baby dragons so I trained them to grow up to be nice and stuff. So in the dream I was basically running and hiding and protecting and attacking the whole time. My question is, what does it mean that in my dreams im always doing these things??
