I would like to know how cremation works?

Essentially the body is placed in a fire and burned until ashes are all that is left. You wind up with a small amount of ashes that can be placed in a container, sometimes an urn, and easy to contend with. You can always bury them later symbolically if you wish. Some people keep the ashes on a mantel in their home as a remembrance.
