What do I do with cremation ashes, left behind by evicted tenant?
Not only did she leave her late fathers cremated ashes, she left 31 bags of trash, an unpaid $600. electric bill, tax information, hospital bills, and a subpoena for court in Detroit, where it seems she was sued for 12 grand by an Insurance company. She did not leave a forwarding address, and I have no knowledge of any other family members. I have gone online in search of similar situations, and haven't found many. One case I did come across was in California, in which the landlord had to go to court, and still was required to hold them for 4 years. This remedy is out of the question and I can't bring myself to just dispose of the guy even if his daughter is a pig! For now he is in my basement in Michigan, probably wondering who the heck I am. Any advice, especially legal advice pertaining to Michigan law will be greatly appreciated, as I don;t want to be responsible for what happens to poor old Thomas.
